she was always a dreamer, never a planner...

Topshop top and skirt, vintage necklaces, Asos belt, H&M bangles, Steve Madden boots, Jimmy Choo clutch.

Is the absence of both atmosphere and clientele at all social venues due to the credit crunch, swine flu, summer holiday season, or all of the above?

I'm going to follow the trend and jet away...we're off to Hong Kong in exactly two weeks. Couldn't be more ecstatic! Fingers crossed I don't somehow contract swine flu before my departure date.

Chloe and Me

Zara blouse, Missoni skirt, Zara heels, vintage necklaces, Miss Selfridge headband.

When the hangover is too strong to overcome, and the ability to shift oneself out of bed is impossible, Sunday lunch is vetoed and Movie Day commences. The boy and I breezed through four films yesterday, ranging from action and horror to my very favorite of the night, Marley and Me. I was more than shocked to be incredibly touched by the film, finding myself engrossed in all the details, relationships, and the fact that life can evolve faster than we can follow.

I can think back to my youth, and how having a 'best friend' was such a simple statement. As we move through life, insecurities can trickle into relationships changing the term, creating the best and worst of friends. I've witnessed and experienced examples of competition, jealousy, betrayal, and gossip altering people, their relationships, personalities, and the kind of 'friend' we become, whether intentional or not. Sometimes relationships grow closer with hardship and transitions, but more often a falsity lingers in the air, stealing the relationship's genuine nature. Friendship should be defined by loyalty, support, the desire to look beneath what one expresses to what one really wants and needs.

With each of these thoughts rolling around in my mind, I took the final note of Marley and Me to heart, that the easiest relationship I will ever have is with my dog, Chloe. We bonded immediately, she is constant, sweet, always happy to see me, can sense immediately if I need her support, tries her best to protect me, is void of expectations, and will never be competitive, angry, or jealous of anything I possess. She is definitely a girl's best friend, and the very start of a family the boy and I will build together.

Back in Action

Vintage half slip, Chloe jacket, Jimmy Choo clutch, Matalan shoes.

The social strike ceased last night when the boy suggested it was time we paid our favourite bartenders a visit at the E&O. Although I felt the need to infuse my body with alcohol content once again, the urge to choose a garment that closely resembled a nightgown was impossible to resist. I'm sure I have mentioned in the past that I have a small collection of vintage half slips I enjoy wearing as dresses. They are incredibly breezy, silky, and can look classic with minimal effort. The fact that I purchased every single one for under $10 in random vintage shops makes them all the more appealing. The weather was chilly, and the bar was slightly empty due to holiday slump, but the taste of a passionfruit martini was more than therapeutic. I'm back to my party friendly self, and will be going all out tomorrow night...but I do think I'll be needing a new pair of shoes to top off my mood.

And while I'm mentioning vintage and shopping, my friend has just recently started a eco-friendly vintage fashion site, www.zuburbia.com. They are all about being eco-chic! Ten trees are planted with every order, only recycled packaging and soy based inks are used, and 20% off all fur sales are donated to animal charities. I love the concept, and think it's a great way to help the environment (fashionably).

Until She Wakes...

The urge to get out of bed, make oneself presentable, and engage in social activity is near non-existent. Since returning from our wine/beach driven vacation I have sustained a semi-comatose state, reading non-stop, avoiding the internet, and losing myself in random episodes of CSI. Once my batteries recharge, I shall return to my giddy, overexcited self, and start putting together outfits that are not solely for the purpose of a quick run to the supermarket.

Until my return, here are some personal snaps of our holiday...hope you enjoy :-)

The Way the Wind Blows

Oasis dress (on sale now!)

Sorry for bombarding you with an unlimited amount of body conscious dresses, but the look combined perfectly with my mood, and evening activities whilst in Cannes.

Do you ever commit yourself to a trend that feels infinitely right no matter your mood? It may be difficult to believe now, but there was a time when I was hugely adverse to bodycon. A few years ago I was incredibly attached to thin, loose tees, slips, or tanks over flared skirts, often accessorized with an oversized belt, and tribal earrings. During that time, my nature and life felt excessively romantic and carefree, almost to the point of reckless. I enjoyed being led by the wind, and my desires translated into breezy attire, garments that could move with my unpredictable lifestyle. My personality and life have not have not shifted greatly in concept through the years, but time has brought security, confidence, and comfort, leaving behind clusters of my irresponsibility. Maybe that is the reason my style is swaying towards structure, a look possessing constrictions and boundaries.

Either way I promise a non bodycon look next :-)
Life tastes best when sprinkled with variety!

Familiar Ground

Topshop dress, Topshop boutique blazer, Matalan shoes, Dior bag.

I experience extreme packing dilemmas when departing on a trip lasting longer than a week. The temptation to throw my entire wardrobe into boxes, and ship it all to our hotel days in advance is far too great, and baggage limits are a constant aggravation. In the end I usually settle on frustration, and sift out all extras, leaving only my favorite dresses, and three of the most versatile shoes I can locate. When packing for the French Riviera, I decided upon my favorite bodycon pieces, loose tees for the beach, two Missoni bikinis, and the most comfortable high heels I own. The only practical option for beachy days, never ending date nights, and long moonlight walks along La Croisette.

Off to enjoy our last night before returning to ridiculously rainy London. Don't worry, I have many more vacation outfits to share when we are home in the morbid weather.

Half Baked

Align Centre

American Apparel sexualitee, Missoni bikini, Gucci aviators.
Urban Outfitters tee, New Look wedges, Miss Selfridge headband, Topshop shorts.

The majority of my time is now spent lounging in sand, splashing in the sea, and attempting to de-sand my hair.

My beach essentials include: Nivea 'light feeling' spf 20, Mark Hill Sun Protection Spray for hair spf 6, Vaseline (rose flavor), Gucci aviators, Ipod, coffee ice cream, and a sprinkling of wine.

A converstaion that occured 5 minutes ago:

The Boy: "I don't look good in pictures"
Me: "I like this one. You should always make that expression."
The Boy: "What like this?"
Me: "No, that looks angry. Try to look fierce." (joking voice)
The Boy: "I've got it. Like this!"
Me: "That looks the same. You remind me of Derek Zoolander."
The Boy: "People always say that."

Blue Beach

Miss Selfridge dress, Steve Madden boots, Kabiri bangle, vintage necklace.

Coconut sunblock, lunch under a sprawling parasol while our feet sink into warm sand, tuna tartare, ice cubes floating in rose wine, submerging into the cold Mediterranean Sea after a hot nap under the sun, morning walks on wet sand, peeking into designer windows along la Croisette, discovering bars that are located within mansions, zig zag Missoni print, oysters and champagne.

We're in Cannes, and I think it may be better than I remembered.

Also, big shout out to my fab friend Leah, who gave me the best pre-holiday spa treatment before my departure. If you want to be pampered, and reside in London, book a facial with her at the Spa NK on Hans Crescent (next to Harrods) before next Saturday. And for those of you who live in NYC, after next Saturday, you will be lucky enough to have her in your flagship Space NK! Go and make her feel welcome in her new home, and receive the best Eve Lom facial you will ever experience :-)

Patiently Waiting

Vintage sex pistols tee, Zara blazer, New Look skirt, F21 shoes

I have been pretty hopeless at capturing blog worthy images lately. Life has been hectic, exciting, and tiring all at the same time. My weekend included an attempt at detoxing, attending a questionable party, being very sick, sleeping on a balcony in the sun, and watching a fair amount of tennis. Our week long holiday commences on Thursday, and I couldn't be more ready for sun, sand, and sea.

Also, check out Style Copycat's feature on all my favorite bodycon outfits :-)

Heating Up

Tibi dress, Dior saddle bag, Gucci aviators

The heat in London is nearing unbearable at the moment. I find myself constantly unsure of what deems as appropriate attire, and am always lusting after a slight breeze. The boy and I participated in a refreshing stroll along the river yesterday, and ruled out moving to Battersea. A river view is incredibly tempting, but it would be far too difficult to part with our beloved Notting Hill.

Am desperately looking forward to our holiday in Cannes! Less than a week to go...can't wait for the smell of coconut sunblock, and rose on ice beachside.

I have added more items to Shop FashionHedonism. Anyone want a pair of Miu Miu heels?

Hot in the City

Topshop top/tunic, New Look skirt, Zara heels, Topshop necklace, Balenciaga bag, Gucci aviators.

Scorching summer heat in the city =wearing as little as possible without drawing unwanted attention to one self.

I was incredibly excited to receive a sweet email from Mimi of La Mimi last week informing me I had been chosen as "Fashion Idol of the Week." As an avid reader of her site, a place where I have discovered many of my favourite bloggers, I was more than honored to be chosen. You can visit www.la-mimi.com to read up on the latest beauty and fashion trends, and also check out my interview!

In other news I have started my own Shop FashionHedonism where you can pick up items that no longer fit into my extremely stuffed wardrobe. Find Topshop, All Saints, Zara, and many more! Keep checking back as I'll be updating stock regularly.
