When I spotted a few of these photos on knighttcat and fashiongonerogue, I was immediately enthralled. Devon Aoki in Alexander Wang for Vogue Nippon! The sighting was quickly followed by an hour of perusing the internet for further Aoki pics and interviews. I have always had a soft spot for Devon Aoki. Maybe it's being a fellow Asian/American, maybe it's her distinctive look, and the way she can completely transform herself from one editorial to the next, or maybe it's because she is often spotted wearing Chanel with Karl Lagerfeld himself. Either way, her presence in the fashion industry is refreshing, necessary, and could be far more plentiful.

We have been on a small trip and forgot the camera. So sorry, no outfit posts :-( We are home now, so hopefully the sun will make an appearance tomorrow, and we can start snapping once again!

Late Awakening

She awakes from her afternoon nap in a slight haze, moving her hands across the bed in search of her iphone. She desperately hoped it was not evening, and knew they would be late for yet another dinner reservation. Her wishes were dashed as the the untimely hour was revealed, knowing she would be forced to run in heels for the third time that weekend. Her feet reluctantly pressed upon the cold floor, as the boy groaned at the thought of waking. The routine of throwing garments, squeezing past each other into their shared bathroom, and flustering their nervous dog commenced immediately. She rushed across the room commending herself for pre-picking an outfit that morning. After sliding into her silky, sheer dress, her hair was quickly unraveled from its usual bun, and glistened with a spritz of shine spray. The look was finished with a smudge of black eyeshadow and a bright slick of red gloss. They bolted out the door and were almost on time.

Life has been slightly mellow lately. The next two months are jam packed with trips and visits, so the boy and I have put our social lives in the backseat in favor of some light rest and relaxation. Days pass with cappuccinos and magazines by morning and wine by the afternoon. Each night is filled with deep slumber and I don't remember the last time we set foot into a bar at dark. Tonight we're hanging up our idle shoes and venturing towards a local bar, Lonsdale. I'm excited to showcase the AA micro mesh dress.

The weather is ridiculously nice, and we have been spending far too much time sitting outside cafes and lounging at pubs. I hope this never ends. Last summer traumatized me, and caused me to believe it was impossible to have a hot, rainless summer in London. My faith has been restored, and although I still expect a certain amount of rain, I hope this is the beginning of a lovely season.

I have been slightly addicted to shopping on ebay lately! The bargains are endless. I got this wrangler vest on there for an unbelievably cheap price and it is perfect! Other purchases include: vintage denim shirt, black military jacket, oversized red vintage cardigan, and vintage leather satchel. I am currently bidding on two pairs of Docs. Did I mention it is a slight addiction?

They finally arrived! It was love at first sight when I spotted the Alexander Wang shoes in his S/S 09 collection. A perfect high heel, open toe platform sandal, with the added bonus of delectable fringing. A shoe that looked grungy, hot, and comfy all at the same time. What more could a girl ask for? Unfortunately the hefty price tag made them a distant dream, until the day Forever 21 decided to mass produce a near exact replica of the fashionista's must have s/s 09 accessory. Living in London causes me to miss out on the fruitful bargains Forever 21 provides my American blogging peers, but this opportunity was not one to be missed. Thanks to my Mom, who resides in F21 territory, I too have the Alexander Wang-ish booties. They are practical enough to run in and receive more attention than a Jen Aniston/Brangelina face-off. Shoe Porn at its best.

Sun Day

We located the ideal spot to bathe in sunlight, consumed an abundance of white wine, and returned home laughing.

Saturdays

It was a casual, bright Saturday. They headed out for a light lunch and a sprinkling of white wine. Notting Hill was filled with a giddy buzz, excitement from the unexpectedly nice weather. The sun glittered brightly on on her hair as a small dog hopped eagerly beside her, seeking release from the restraints of her leash. He held her hand with a gentle touch, as they wandered toward a familiar location, her loose tee billowing softly in the wind. The smell of chili and basil wafted through the air, hitting their craving, as they neared the destination. A crowd trickled from the entrance, squeezing onto the sidewalk, in hopes of remaining in the warmth. He leads her through the door and orders with ease. They converse while they wait, anticipating the night ahead.

First Bloom

It seems Spring has decided it is time to come out and play, but only momentarily. Yesterday afternoon I was able to frolic to the pub, sans tights, and immerse in the warmth while sipping a glass of white wine. Walmer Castle is my new favorite pub. Not only is it just around the corner, but I have never seen so many fashionable drinkers congregated within a 20ft radius. Chanel, Balenciaga, and Alexander Wang were easily spotted, and there were plenty of doggies to to entertain Chloe (our dog). The stylish factor could be due to the fact that the 'castle' is adjacent to Notting Hill's premier designer boutique, Matches, which gives me all the more reason to go.

I'm already outfit planning for our May trip to Barcelona. Here is my ideal 'Spain' beach outfit.

Californian Dreaming

The American in me was desperately seeking Mexican food and Coronas last night. The only problem is that I live in London and a delicious Mexican restaurant, satisfying enough to hit my craving does not exist in the UK (that I know of). For a Californian born, West Coast girl this can be slightly painful at times, especially since I have not graced the United States with my presence for over a year. The boy and I started our mission, searching the internet, reading reviews, asking informative friends to recommend a suitable location. In the end we settled upon Navojo Joes, where the atmosphere was fitting, the Coronas were flowing, and the food was good enough. I'm still avidly anticipating my next visit to So Cal when my urges will be properly indulged.

I got this Chloe dress from the fashion house's Phoebe Philo days, which I dearly miss. It has stayed a spring/summer staple in my wardrobe for several years and gets better with age. I love the girly style, and almost indecent sheerness of the piece. A perfect start to Spring!

American Apparel mesh dress arrived today! Yay!
