she feels her history in the air

After a month at home, we have returned to Hong Kong, one of my absolute favourite cities. Each time our plane commences its descent over the shimmering night lights, my heartbeat can't help but quicken. I adore each unique and welcoming element about this city. The streets are constantly alight, and soaked with the lingering scent of fragrant spice. The people are consistently friendly, helpful, and always welcoming. Distinct British influences are prominent, and add a characteristic twist of east meets west culture. Eating is a constant occurrence in this city where streetside eateries permeate the most alluring aromas, and food is offered in great variety. The feeling of safety plays an omniscient presence, and regardless of the hour, food and play are available in abundance. At the moment, the late winter weather is warm, vacant of humidity, with a refreshing light breeze, creating the ideal condition to browse and explore. I feel so fortunate this is my second home, and the boy and I are adamant about relocating here in a few years.

A Taste of Spring

All of us living in arctic winter temperatures are likely lusting after Spring, sun, and warmth.
Caycee Black's feminine, and striking S/S 2010 collection managed to push the craving to a whole new level. I was immediately drawn to her beautifully tailored pieces, which communicate a sophistication, while still evoking the playful, light air of Spring. Just viewing this lookbook makes me yearn for the scent of fresh cut grass, and a taste of sweetly tart lemonade.

Check out her website here.

she sprinted towards exhaustion

Vintage lace dress and necklace, and Wrangler shirt, Alexander Wang Diego bag, Topshop boots.

I had a strange urge to wear this dress to Sunday lunch, so decided to bring out its casual side with the softest cotton piece I own. Between the dress' giving stretch, and the shirt's light fabric, this was an unexpected, comfortable choice.

Our usual Sunday session was injected with unforeseen company, so lunch turned into drinks, which led to hanging out until close. The dog is still exhausted from all the excitement.

she witnessed a bleeding sky

Asos dress, Shaun Leane necklace, Rolex watch, H&M bracelets, Christopher Kane for Topshop bag, Topshop boots.

Dinner parties can often be the definition of awkward. You strive for a seating arrangement which triggers steady conversation, desperately sway from controversial topics, hope your friends get along or can at least manage civil, and the splitting of the bill in a group of 20 can end in serious confusion. The boy and I generally dodge these situations, but last night we attended a glamorous dinner for a lovely birthday girl, and are happy to report a seamless, smile filled experience. Maybe the hiccups aren't noticed unless you are host, but it is always a good night when our heads hit the pillow just in time for sunrise.

times two

weheartit, tumblr

I have always been partial to the Chanel logo. Maybe it's because it also symbolizes my initials. That's one thing Coco Chanel and I have in common :-)

Happy Friday!!
I'm off to a birthday party in my new Asos dress. Will share pics tomorrow.
xoxo

she reached a little further

DVF dress, H&M men's hat, Ashish for Topshop wedges, vintage bangle, Rolex watch.

Yesterday was spent wandering, with my blue haired friend, out of my usual neighborhood. After a surprisingly speedy tube journey east, most of our day was devoted to perusing through Bricklane's vintage boutiques. The experience was highlighted by an impromptu visit to the lovely Georgia Hardinge's studio. Not only was she sweet and welcoming, but her A/W 2010 collection was awe-inspiring. I tried on several lust worthy pieces, and can definitely vouch that she is one of the most talented young designers out there. Her collection manages to be a successful combination of flirty, intricate, powerful, and feminine. Can't wait to share my favourite pieces after London Fashion Week!

weekly pick me up

Zara faux fur vest, blouse from Portobello Market, vintage skirt, Topshop boots.

Tuesdays always include ridiculously enjoyable evenings. After a work day which consistently leaves the boy lifeless, yet excited, and a killer gym session for me, we participate in a weekly standing date. I gorge on salad, fries, and cocktails, while the boy samples several varieties of wine. The boy shares his day's successes, while I jabber about my random activities. The night generally concludes with a run home, and our very own late night, music video jam session.
I heart Tuesdays.

so much better than roses or chocolates

Valentine's Day is just around the corner so you may want to give the boys a slight push in the right direction ;-)

Patricia Nicolas, a Spanish jewelry designer based in London, has one of the most intricate, unique, and stylish collections I have seen in awhile. Her designs are incredibly feminine, but also hold a slight quirkiness.

You can purchase at Harvey Nichols, Harrods, Yoox, or directly from her website.

And don't forget to check out her fun and stylish fashion blog.
